An invitation for working moms in the DC area --

ABC's Good Morning America is holding an event on Capitol Hill tomorrow morning focusing on working women and I want to extend the invite to this group! We're gathering a ton of working moms together at the Russell Senate Office Building tomorrow from 6-9am -- not only will participants be live on GMA but it'll be a great networking experience for the many groups we're gathering together to talk about issues for working moms.

If you're interested in joining us to meet lots of working moms from around the area, talk about important issue of getting paid maternity leave (and also having some fun being on tv!), please rsvp to me at Alessandra.T.LaPoint.-nd@abc.com. All the info about the event is below and please spread the word, the more the merrier!

Look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you tomorrow!

Best,
Alesandra

ABC's GOOD MORNING AMERICA "TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR LIFE" TOUR IS COMING TO WASHINGTON, DC ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28th!!

Good Morning America's "Take Control of Your Life" Tour is coming to Washington, DC on Friday, September 28th and we'd love for you to be a part of it!! Tory Johnson, GMA's workplace contributor and CEO of Women for Hire, has taken her tour to several cities throughout this past year, helping working women improve their lives - advising them how to ask for more flextime, encouraging workplaces to provide childcare and giving women the tools to fight for equal pay. Tory will conclude her fall tour on Friday, September 28th in our nation's capitol to examine how the Family and Medical Leave Act impacts working women.

Tory will highlight the story of a single working mom who is currently on unpaid maternity leave and having trouble paying the bills to support her family. She'll look at how FMLA has helped working women since being signed into law in 1993 but that there is still much to be done, as the US is one of only a few countries in the world that does not provide paid family leave across the board. We'll highlight some of the various legislation currently in Congress that is aimed towards helping working women and Tory will also be offering her own tips to women on how to make sure they take advantage of the family leave options available to them.

So please come join Tory and other working women on Friday. Not only will you be part of our live broadcast on GMA, but we're hoping this will be a great networking experience for everyone involved, to meet and speak with other women working towards more protection under FMLA.

If you are able to attend --

Please RSVP to Alesandra.T.LaPoint.-nd@abc.com with your name, number of peoples in your group attending with you and a contact number for one person in your group. Participants should arrive at 6am to the Russell Senate Office Building, which is just across the street from the US Capitol. The entrance is on Delaware Avenue, approximately 15 yards past the Rotunda entrance at the corner of Constitution Avenue and Delaware Avenue.

All participants will be given a blue "GMA Take Control of Your Life!" T-shirt that we'd like everyone to wear for this event. Coffee and light breakfast items will be provided.

We hope to see you on Friday!
