"Oscar! Oscar?" My very inquistive two-year-old  was knocking on the trash can.  Initially, I was shocked...even more so when I had to wash sweet and sour Lean Cuisine sauce off his toy Thomas trains. He was giving Oscar a gift! (Who knows how many toys really ended up joining Oscar in the dump for real!?!) I sighed out of exasperation and had him wash his hands. We continued the game for a few minutes.  I realized what I had to do. I had to explain to him that Oscar did not live in our trash can...he lived on Sesame Street and this was not Sesame Street. It felt as bad as saying "There's no Santa!" or " Timmy get the gun--Old Yeller has rabies!" Today I had to break his heart a little.
