I think the best way to do this is to be really present when you are together. When I pick up my sons from daycare I hang out with them for a few minutes and we sometimes do something special on the way home, quick stop at the park, drive by some lights during the holidays, etc. Then at home, we have dinner and I play with them. NO computer, laundry, tv, etc. until they go to bed. My oldest 2.5 is very vocal, so I would know if he was feeling left out and so far, things are okay and he loves his time with me. We also get up extra early and have about an hour of paytime in the morning. This is mostly because my boys wake up around 5:00, so I have a couple of hours before I have to leave for work.
